1971 BSA Lightning

Sold 03/27/2012

A really good 1971 BSA Lightning in very original condition with the exception of the black paint. Never been chopped or molested. Everything works including the blinkers, horn, oil pressure light, etc. Equipped with Boyer Bransden electronic ignition that works fine. Original seat in good condition. It has a fresh rear tire with very little wear and an older front tire that shows some cracking. Chrome on front fender is peeling but the rims are like new. Wire mounts for both front fender and headlight bucket are in great condition. It is fitted with low cafe style bars that look really sporting. Also available are 12' apehanger bars that were mounted when I purchased the bike. The wiring was extended to fit them. Has Dunstall style mufflers. Numbers match. Milage 10429

This is the first year for BSA's new Oil In Frame design, which is a a very good handling machine with a redesigned front forks, stiffer frame and all new styling. These engines also benefited from an upgraded high output cast iron oil pump, oil pressure relief valve and low oil pressure warning light. BSA was around for only one more year, shuttering its doors in 1972. There are not many of these oil in frame models around and they are gaining in value.

Fires up and runs great. I purchased it from a collector who did ride it and reported it ran fine. I have not ridden it due to our icy Maine winters.

This BSA will be sold with a Bill of Sale only. Maine does not title vehicles older then 15 years old. Please check with your local DMV to be sure you can meet your state requirements.

All representations about this motorcycle are made in good faith but are not guarenteed accurate. Motorcycle is sold AS IS WHERE IS with no guarentee regarding condition. Please remember that these are old British Motorcycles.
